In 2012, Bahati Bertin Matonde leaves the Democratic Republic of Congo. A refugee in Uganda, he founds Self-made Africans in 2013 — an organization that trains young refugees, first through film, then through sustainable agriculture and entrepreneurship.
During COVID-19, his project “The Let Be One Show” distributes seeds to more than 5,000 people at the Kyaka II camp. In 2024, Bertin settles in Montreal — Tabar Coffee becomes the continuation of his mission.
